School Project in Writing for the Web Course
This infographic was created as part of a content strategy assignment in my digital marketing course. It introduces three culturally rich Japanese words, "Komorebi, Mottainai, and Otsukaresama," that carry deep meanings yet have no direct English equivalents.
As a former Japanese language teacher and current digital marketer, I designed this project specifically for my niche audience for beginner-level Japanese learners on Instagram. Many of them are fans of anime and manga, so I adopted a character-driven design inspired by that aesthetic. This creative direction helped make the content more relatable and visually appealing, increasing the likelihood of engagement.
The infographic features a vertical, mobile-friendly layout and a calming nature background to reflect the word Komorebi. Friendly, rounded typography was used to ensure readability and a welcoming tone. Each word is paired with a short, digestible explanation and an expressive illustration to support comprehension and cultural connection.
To test its performance, I published the infographic on my Japanese teacher Instagram account, which despite having only 30 followers, consistently generates higher engagement than my personal account.
This project demonstrates how educational content, when carefully tailored and visually engaging, can resonate with a targeted audience even from a small platform. It blends cultural education with digital marketing techniques and reflects my skill set as a Digital Marketer for Japanese Language Education.
